Australian Rover Challenge 2025

Australian Rover Challenge 2025

The Australian Rover Challenge 2025 is set to kick off on 27 March with four full days of competitions scheduled between 18 rover teams. This year, three teams from Poland and a demonstration team from India will join 14 domestic teams, including your own Adelaide Rover Team, in the battle of lunar bots.

The teams will partake in a mock full-scale Lunar mission, using their semi-autonomous rovers that they have designed and built themselves. Competitors will showcase their skills in a simulated lunar environment to complete navigation, resource, and construction tasks. The aim is to demonstrate a fully functional foundation services rover capable of remote operation, autonomy, manipulation, and In-Situ Resource Utilization, in line with Australia’s commitment to support NASA’s Moon to Mars program through the Trailblazer mission.

If that sounds like too much technical jargon, listen to Adelaide Rover Team Lead Jingyi Qiu explain the competition on ABC Radio Sydney here: https://tinyurl.com/37yn2tm6

The competition will take place from 27-30 March at Roseworthy Campus and is free for all to attend. The event will also be livestreamed on the UoA YouTube channel.
