University launches expanded Trimester 3 program

Students at the University of Adelaide's North Terrace campus

The University of Adelaide has introduced a significantly expanded program offering for Trimester 3, including a number of programs usually taught only in Semester mode.

“Students will be able to make a head start on their studies before joining the main cohort in semester mode from Semester 1, 2021, irrespective of whether borders are open or closed,”Michael Aust, Director of International Recruitment,

The new offerings – for a September intake – will be offered in Trimester mode for 2020 commencements only, with a focus on international students who are currently offshore and unable to commence their studies on campus.

The University has put in place a raft of support mechanisms including peer-to-peer support, academic monitoring and additional English language support to ensure that students continue to excel in their studies.

Pro Vice Chancellor (International) Professor Jacqueline Lo said the University of Adelaide was known for its world-class learning and teaching and was able to pivot in its delivery to continue that quality of education during the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Staff have worked tirelessly to ensure students have been able to stay engaged with their studies, and education has continued to make a positive contribution to people’s lives during the global pandemic.

“The University of Adelaide continues to innovate to ensure our expansion of access to quality education.”

Michael Aust, Director of International Recruitment at the University of Adelaide, said the program was designed with international students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic in mind.

“As students from many countries have had their exams and/or results delayed, many students would not have received these by the Semester 2 intake. Offering Semester 2 programs in a Trimester 3 mode means they don’t need to wait until 2021 to start their program’’ he said.

“Students will be able to make a head start on their studies before joining the main cohort in semester mode from Semester 1, 2021, irrespective of whether borders are open or closed.”
