Star-filled fun for space fans

Venture into outer space during the school holidays with a Planetarium experience. Enjoy a tour of the cosmos guided by one of the Planetarium’s experienced astronomers and watch the mysteries of our solar system unravel on the dome-shaped ceiling. 

Important notes – please read before booking 

  • Please arrive 10-15 minutes prior to the session commencement to register and be seated comfortably. 
  • For safety reasons, entry after the session has begun and re-entry are not permitted.  
  • Children aged 3 years and under may attend free of charge, provided they are seated on their carer's lap and do not occupy a separate seat - daytime sessions only.  
  • ALL patrons occupying their own seat, including children aged 3 years and under, are required to purchase a ticket. 
  • Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult to be admitted into the Planetarium. 
  • If you are attending with a companion card, please contact the Planetarium via phone or email before booking to ensure seat availability. 
  • NO food and drink is permitted inside the Planetarium. 
  • The use of mobile phones, electronic devices and photography is prohibited inside the Planetarium. 
  • Prams are not permitted in the Planetarium. 
  • DAY SESSIONS: The Planetarium is not suitable for children under 4 years of age. If you do bring younger children, we kindly ask that you seat yourself closer to the door. As a courtesy to other patrons, if your child becomes restless or noisy during the session, we ask that you please exit the Planetarium. We have a foyer area for carers attending with younger siblings. 
  • EVENING SESSIONS: Please be aware that children (including infants) who do not meet the minimum age requirement will not be admitted into the Planetarium.
  • PARKING – if you are parking in the ML6 car park or along University Boulevard, please ensure you pay for your parking upon arrival. Casual parking is via the PayStay parking meter located outside the Planetarium building. Fees are $0.20 per hour, capped at $2.00 per day. Payment is via credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. You will be required to hold your phone near the meter or scan the QR code (there is no cash option).

Programs


Our school holiday sessions will take you on a captivating journey across the Universe. Join one of our highly experienced astronomers as they guide you through constellations, the Solar System and beyond. Marvel at the immense scale of the universe and observe the breathtaking beauty of the night skies projected on the domed ceiling. The general sessions run for 60mins and feature a full-dome movie.

In this captivating planetarium session, we journey through the Sun’s incredible history and onto its future. Discover the Sun's siblings that also formed in that vast cloud of gas and dust, explore the powerful nuclear reactions that make it shine, and see what the distant future holds as it swells into a red giant before fading into a stellar remnant.

Our Space School includes a Virtual Reality experience that will take kids out of this world! 

Drop your kids off for a fun-filled space session where they will learn about the solar system and the night sky through a planetarium experience, which includes a full-dome movie.
