About me
Gene currently works as a Research Associate within BetterStart Group at Adelaide University, undertaking social research using large linked administrative data. Whilst primarily interested and skilled in quantitative statisitical methods, Gene has also undertaken qualitative research (e.g., surverys, interviews, focus groups) and believes mixed-methods approaches to research and evaluation lead to the the most comprehensive and compelling evidence.
In 2023, Gene commenced an Industry-linked PhD in Criminology at Flinders University, focused on evaluating South Australia's Police Drug Diversion Initiative.
Prior to working in academia, Gene spent a decade developing, implementing, monitoring and evaluating social policy / interventions within the SA Government Public Service, in particular within the Department for Correctional Services. Gene holds a Bachelor of Behavioural Science (2012; Flinders University),
