Deputy Vice-Chancellors' Message
Increasing connectivity with our global network of collaborators is critical to the ongoing achievement of our strategic aspirations. Collaboration underpins and expands our existing research excellence and extends the University’s global reach, reputation and impact.
To support this ambition, the University launched the International Fellows Award earlier this year, with each individual Fellowship worth up to $20,000. Designed to bring some of the very best research minds from around the globe to Adelaide to work with our researchers and students, the scheme will boost our global reputation and advance partnerships in areas of key strategic importance. Our visiting Fellows will also enrich our teaching and learning activities by connecting our students with global leaders.
We are delighted to announce that after a highly competitive global application process, seven inaugural International Fellows have been selected for their research excellence, commitment to outreach and engagement, and the potential for ongoing collaboration:
-
Professor Elleke Boehmer, The University of Oxford
-
Professor William Detmold, Massachusetts Institute of Technology
-
Dr Kuishuang Feng, University of Maryland, College Park
-
Dr Kathryn Seigfried-Spellar, Purdue University
-
Dr Daniel Sigg, California Institute of Technology
-
Dr Daan van Uhm, Utrecht University
-
Professor Chunsheng Wang, University of Maryland
These Fellows represent diverse research specialities, including gravitational waves, environmental crime, particle and nuclear physics, online child sexual exploitation prevention, postcolonial literary studies, optimising batteries for grid-scale storage and the socioeconomic factors associated with solar energy installation. There will be opportunities to hear from and engage with the Fellows during their time at the University of Adelaide next year.
We will offer two application rounds for the International Fellows Award in 2024. Information will be provided via Staff News and on the website when these rounds open next year.
