Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message

Our alumni community represents one of our greatest assets and continues to be a source of pride and inspiration.
We now have more than 164,000 alumni living in 148 nations and making a positive impact across diverse sectors. Recently we hosted 150th celebrations with alumni in Vietnam and Singapore, and it was wonderful to hear, firsthand, how the work that we all do has contributed to the education of people who have gone on to make a difference in their careers.
This year, as part of our 150th, we have been shining a light on people who have transformed their own lives, and those of their families and their communities, through their time at our University. The ‘Inspirational Community’ and ‘Celebrating our Colleagues’ webpages share stories of some of those alumni, as well as those of our research and professional staff.
This week, we are celebrating 150 years of women’s right to vote in South Australia with ‘Women in the House’, a (now sold out) discussion in Elder Hall featuring four exceptional women across Australia’s spectrum, whom we are also exceptionally proud to call our alumni.
Our spirit of empowerment and innovation has driven change for the better within our community and the world over the past 150 years. As we step into our next 150 years, our focus will be to continue changing lives through knowledge, innovation and collaboration.
On Thursday 5 September, our annual Giving Day provides an opportunity to join the fun on campus and help drive positive change in the community and across the world by making a gift to the cause you are most passionate about. Each donation has an impact, and makes an investment in a better future. Staff and students are invited to kick off Giving Day with a free coffee and bagel from 8.30–10 am on the Goodman Lawns, North Terrace campus.
We have so much to celebrate, and I thank you all very much for your continued support and care for our University and our community.
