My family is Indian, but soon after I was born, we moved to Kenya because there were better professional opportunities for my dad. I have always been passionate about learning new things, but coming from Kenya, I didn’t really have access to knowledge as you would here.

Apple Distinguished School status extended to 2027
The University of Adelaide’s School of Education has had its nation-first Apple Distinguished School designation extended to 2027. Not only are we still the only university in Australia to have this title (since 2021) but this extended designation will officially carry through to Adelaide University. More information.

JBI and Australia Awards partner for universal health in the Philippines
JBI, together with Australia Awards, has launched a new Fellowship program aimed at strengthening the health workforce in the Philippines by equipping thirteen mid-career healthcare professionals and researchers with advanced skills in evidence-based clinical decision-making and guideline development. Molecular epigenetic expert Dr Luke Isbel (SAiGENCI) has been awarded a 2024 Sylvia and Charles Viertel Charitable Foundation Senior Medical Research Fellowship. Read more.
2024 Japanese Foreign Minister's Award
Associate Professor Shoko Yoneyama (School of Social Sciences) has received an award from the Japanese Foreign Minister for her contribution to promoting Japanese culture and language education in Australia. Read more.
Taikunthi now open
North Terrace Campus has a new restaurant, café and bar on level 5 Union House. Taikunthi (pronounced ‘tie-goon-dee’), reflects the spirit of its Kaurna name, meaning to ‘join, unite and partner together’. The menu features dishes made from tasty local ingredients and a carefully curated beverage offering. Open from 8am weekdays for coffee and breakfast, lunch with colleagues or a drink after work. This course covers the fundamentals of research impact – what it is and how it can be embedded into every step of the research journey. This program is relevant to researchers at all levels, across all major disciplines. You can record the course for 3 credits in Domain D for CaRST. Enrol.
