Replacement / Additional Assessment (R/AA) results
R/AA examination codes
- UR = Replacement examination on medical, compassionate or extenuating circumstances
- US = Additional assessment or task
The results of replacement examinations (UR) offered on medical and/or compassionate grounds will be classified using the normal grading system. However, if you completed the primary exam, and then sat the replacement exam, your existing primary result will be replaced by the replacement result, regardless of whether the latter is higher or lower.
The results of additional assessment or task (US) offered on academic grounds will not be graded above the level of 50 Pass. Where the additional assessment or task produces an overall result that is different from the primary result, the better of the two results will apply up to 50 Pass.
All students will receive a single final result for each course, whether or not an R/AA was necessary to achieve that result. No indication of the R/AA will appear on your official academic transcript. Students are advised to refer to the modified arrangements for coursework assessment policy for more information.
R/AA Examination Codes:
- UR = Replacement examination on medical, compassionate or extenuating circumstances.
- US = Additional assessment or task.
Additional Assessment - All Papers: If your final grade falls within the supplementary assessment range (usually between 45% and 49%), a note will be added to your course transcript. In order to pass the course, you will be required to take an Additional Assessment during the relevant R/AA exam period. This assessment is typically a centrally scheduled exam, but the Course Coordinator may assign an alternative task at their discretion.
By completing the Additional Assessment, you can achieve a passing grade, which is usually set at 50%.
Replacement Examination - All Papers: This note on your transcript will be visible to students who have applied for a Replacement Exam due to medical, compassionate, or extenuating circumstances, and have received approval for their Modified Arrangements for Coursework Assessment (MACA) application.
If you are approved to sit a Replacement Exam, you have the opportunity to obtain an uncapped final grade of up to 100%.
Additional Assessment - Last Course: If you receive a Fail grade for the last course you need to complete your program and have successfully applied for an Additional Assessment through the Last Course Application Form, you will see the Additional Assessment - Last Course note on your transcript.
Once you complete the Additional Assessment, the highest possible final grade is a passing grade, usually set at 50%.
In addition to the transcript notes mentioned above, you may come across a combination of letters instead of a numerical grade in MyAdelaide. Here's what they mean:RP: Result Pending: The final grade for this course is still pending. There are various reasons for this delay, including the Course Coordinator taking more time to mark/submit the grades, outstanding coursework, waiting for the outcome of a Replacement Exam or Additional Assessment, awaiting finalisation of placements, etc.
NGP: Non-Graded Pass: You have successfully completed a course that is assessed on a Pass/Fail basis instead of a numerical grade.
CN: Continuing: The course is ongoing, and the final result will be available in the next study period.
WNF: Withdraw No Fail: You withdrew from this course before the deadline to withdraw without it affecting your academic record.
WF: Withdraw Fail: You withdrew from this course after the deadline to withdraw without it affecting your academic record.
FNS: Fail No Submission: No work was submitted for this course, resulting in a Fail grade.
NFE: No Formal Examination: There is no formal examination for this course
