Course overview

This course provides students with an advanced understanding of the factors that contribute to urban decline, the policy frameworks and agendas designed to regenerate areas in decline, and the opportunities and conflicts that may arise through the enactment of such policies in the areas affected and the wider neighbourhood. The course emphasises critical evaluation of regeneration practices in Australia and internationally, with a focus on social equity, cultural values, and environmental sustainability. Through case studies, site visits, and collaboration with industry and community stakeholders, students will develop the analytical, conceptual, and practical skills needed to contribute to contemporary urban regeneration initiatives.
