To build leadership, research, and evidence-based practice skills and capabilities of Registered Nurses and Midwives.

Course learning outcomes

  • Apply the principles and processes of evidence-based practice, and its importance in clinical practice research
  • Summarise the steps in the research process, from identifying a problem/gap to evaluating and communicating impact
  • Classify primary, secondary, quantitative, qualitative, and mixed method study designs
  • Compare and contrast key clinical leadership skills to propose effective and supported change
  • Formulate a comprehensive grant application to support the research project
  • Locate and critically appraise research and formulate recommendations
