Kurraka Counselling
Our Counselling Service provides a safe, private and comfortable space where you are offered support for your individual needs as a First Nation student.
Kurraka is the Kaurna word for magpie, who are known 'chatterboxes'. Kurraka counselling provides a safe space for Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students and respectfully acknowledges the Kaurna people, the original custodians of the Adelaide Plains and the land on which the University of Adelaide's campuses at North Terrace, Waite and Roseworthy are built.
To hear the pronunciation play the audio below.
We acknowledge the support of Kaurna Elder Uncle Rodney O'Brien in assisting with name selection and audio sample for this support program. The final name was approved by a sample of First Nation students.
