Researcher wins again
Professor Holger Maier, a member of the Water Research Centre in the Environment Institute has won yet another award for excellence, this time the Faculty Award for Excellence for Higher Degree by Research Supervision.
Professor Maier has won many awards including:
• Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching in 2006;
• Australasian Association for Engineering Education Excellence in Engineering Education Award in 2006
• Stephen Cole the Elder Prize for Excellence in Teaching in 2002.
• Commonwealth of Learning Excellence in Distance Education Award in Materials Development in 2002.
• Tall Poppy Science Award, 2002.
• ASCILITE Award for Exemplary Use of Electronic Technologies in Teaching and Learning in Tertiary Education in 2001.
Professor Maier uses advanced mathematical modelling techniques to improve the sustainable management of natural resources, and has developed improved analysis systems for the River Murray and is working with the state government of South Australia on a research project to optimise the management of water resources in the Upper South East area of the state.
