Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award - Applications now open

Applications for the Birds Australia 'Stuart Leslie Bird Research Award' are now open. The Award was established in 1997 by Mr Stuart Leslie, AM, who was one of Birds Australia's long-time major donors and a keen bird watcher. Aware of the crucial importance of ongoing ornithological research and the financial challenges facing Australian students, Mr Leslie generously committed to giving $15,000 per year to support post-graduate field work and travel to scientific conferences.

Applications in the following areas are encouraged to apply:

  • Field work on the behaviour and ecology of native Australian birds;

  • Conservation biology of threatened native birds and management of their habitats;

  • Travel to conferences within Australia by postgraduate students to deliver a presentation or contribute a paper or poster related to Australian birds.

Research must relate to Australian native birds.

The closing date for applications is March 31, 2012. The University's internal closing date is 26th March 2012. All University of Adelaide members, please notify the University of Adelaide Research Branch in advance if you intend on applying for this funding opportunity.
