Podcast: Impact of climate change on harmful algal blooms

Anna-Rigosi-at-Ewens-ponds-555x416

Radio Adelaide recently interviewed Dr Anna Rigosi, a post-doctoral research fellow at the Water Research Centre at the University of Adelaide's Environment Institute about her study into the impacts of climate change on algal blooms.

Dr Rigosi's research focuses on the interaction between climate change and nutrients controlling bacterial blooms in fresh water.

She believes that it is important understand the connection between increased temperatures and cyanobacteria blooms to ensure future water supplies remain safe for human and animal consumption. The problem as well as remedies need to be understood, as it is essential to know what causes these changes and what can be done about them to keep our fresh water resources healthy.
