Optimising water resource systems for a changing climate
Water is one of the most precious resources and water resource systems are in need of informed management. However, many water resource systems today rely on historical assumptions about inflows, assumptions that are flawed due to our changing climate. Therefore, new approaches to optimising policies for water systems are needed.
The challenge of optimising our water systems has been tackled by the Environment Institute's Associate Professor Seth Westra and Professor Holger Maier in their latest research. The paper, entitled "A bottom-up approach to identifying the maximum operational adaptive capacity of water resource systems to a changing climate" was published in August, 2016 in Water Resources Research.
