Ocean Essence: A Night of Science

The oceans are vast and mysterious. What lurks beneath the silver sheen of water’s surface? What stories lie under the sea?
No, we don’t mean mermaids or singing crabs, we’re talking science!
To celebrate Spring and the month of September, National Biodiversity Month, we bring you an extraordinary look at our seas and oceans through the eyes of a handful of fabulous and fascinating South Australian scientists.

Ocean Essence – A Night of Science will uncover the mysteries of the deep through quick fire talks by some of South Australia’s top scientists. Each scientist will have just 10 minutes to tell their tale. They’ll take a bite out of great white sharks, use dead dolphins to help living ones, get their 2 and 5 with marine plants and much more.

Our seafaring scientists include:
Dr Charlie Huveneers, Flinders University
Dr Cath Kemper, SA Museum
Prof Alan Cooper, University of Adelaide
Prof. Michelle Waycott, University of Adelaide/DEWNR State Herbarium Andrea Boyd, European Space Agency

The night will be hosted by Associate Professor Paul Willis, who will also lead you on a Q & A to dive further into the deep. Brilliant photographer Carl Charter will show and discuss amazing marine wildlife and adventures.

When: Wednesday, 20 September, 6-8pm
