How can we transform our global timber supply chains for a more sustainable future?

A global study led by Environment Institute Director, Professor Andrew Lowe, together with Pham Thu Thuy and Thi Kim Hong Tang have tackled this complex challenge.

They have shed light on how businesses in Vietnam are adapting to promote sustainable practices in timber trading, through prioritising verified and stable sources, also reducing reliance on high-risk regions. Consumers are becoming more aware of their product origins, companies are now responding to stricter regulations and sustainability demands. 

Although the progress is encouraging they say, ongoing support from governments, businesses, and international collaboration is crucial to scale these efforts and protect our forests for future generations.
