PhD and Postdoctoral Opportunities at the Global HyPT Centre

Hydrogen Symbol

Are you ready to be part of a global mission to achieve net-zero emissions? The Centre for Energy Technology, at the University of Adelaide, is proud to be at the forefront of hydrogen innovation as a key partner in the Global Hydrogen Production Technologies (HyPT) Centre, and we’re looking for passionate researchers to join the journey.

Backed by the CSIRO and in collaboration with Flinders University and partners from the US, Canada, the UK, Egypt, and Germany, the Global HyPT Centre is developing large-scale, low-cost, and net-zero hydrogen production technologies. This international initiative brings together 34 experts across 19 institutions in six countries to drive the future of clean energy.

Hydrogen is set to play a critical role in the global transition to sustainable energy. The HyPT Centre will focus on two game-changing production methods:

  • Methane pyrolysis, producing hydrogen with valuable solid carbon co-products.

  • Solar-driven water splitting, using sunlight to produce hydrogen directly from water.

In addition to cutting-edge technology development, two cross-cutting research themes will address:

  • The policy and market mechanisms necessary to scale hydrogen production.

  • Water resource management. ensuring sustainable and efficient water use in hydrogen systems.
