Uni of Adelaide maths bridging program goes online
We’re excited to announce that MathsTrack, the Maths Learning Centre’s Maths bridging course, will soon be offered in a fully online format as an XSeries Program called MathTrackX, which will launch on April 28. The MathTrackX Program will be hosted on the edX platform and will contain six Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs).
The program has been developed by a course team with members from Learning Enhancement and Innovation’s Online Programs Team (formerly AdelaideX), the Maths Learning Centre and the School of Mathematical Science.
The 6 courses in the MathTrackX XSeries Program include:
- Polynomials, Functions and Graphs
- Special Functions
- Differential Calculus
- Integral Calculus
- Probability
- Statistics
Each course is estimated to take 4 weeks to complete with an effort of 3 to 6 hours per week. The courses are designed to offer flexibility to students as they are able to attempt assessments at any time and are able to choose when they would like to complete the program, potentially cutting down completion time significantly.
The MathTrackX XSeries Program is recognised by the School of Mathematical Science as a prerequisite in place of SACE Stage 2 (Year 12) Mathematical Methods. When all courses in the MathTrackX Program are complete, the student will obtain a program certificate issued from edX, which will be submitted as evidence for recognition of the Mathematical Methods pre-requisite.
Please note: Students currently taking the original MathsTrack bridging course will have until the end of June to complete it in its current form. After this date, all existing and new students will be transitioned to the new MathTrackX XSeries Program.
Enrolments for the new MathTrackX Program will open on March 30. Stay tuned for more updates soon.
