Students’ rovers face simulated lunar missions

This weekend teams of students from around the country will compete in the second Australian Rover Challenge (ARCh) held at the University of Adelaide. Students will put their lunar rovers which they have designed and built themselves, to the test in a series of missions performed on a re-creation of the surface of the Moon.

A batch of pills has returned to Earth after a year of being exposed to the environment inside the International Space Station (ISS). University of Adelaide researchers will check what the effects of some of the highest levels of radiation found beyond the Earth’s atmosphere have had on the tablets.

Microsoft joins forces with Australian Institute for Machine Learning to soar into space

Microsoft has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Australian Institute for Machine Learning, to jointly explore how advanced cloud computing, AI, computer vision and machine learning can be applied in space, beyond Earth’s surface.

Pills face harshest space test yet

MISSE Platform  on International Space Station

A batch of pills will be on its way into space where they will be placed on the outside of the International Space Station (ISS) to test how they withstand the full effects of zero gravity, extreme temperatures and some of the highest levels of radiation found beyond the Earth’s atmosphere.
