Deputy Vice-Chancellor's message

Attracting exceptional students, from diverse backgrounds across Australia and around the world, and delivering excellent learning experiences is a huge part of our mission.

For 2025, we have issued 6,737 domestic offers after the two major rounds in January, and we hope to see those converted to enrolments. 

In 2024, we were joined by the largest cohort of international commencing students in our 150-year history.

We are again on track to meet our international acceptance targets for Semester 1 2025, with pleasing growth in some of our established and emerging markets, particularly China, Vietnam, Bangladesh, Singapore, Pakistan and Nepal. We are looking forward to welcoming our new and continuing students back to campuses over the coming weeks. 

Continuing to strive for excellence and achieving great results are equally core to our mission, and there are many resources that all staff are encouraged to access, particularly as we transition to Adelaide University. We each experience change in diverse ways, and I encourage you to explore the resources to care for your wellbeing and resilience, including the services of the confidential Employee Assistance Program.

If you have not already, I encourage you to register to join in, either in person or online for the Annual Meeting of the University Community at 12 pm on Monday 17 February. This Annual Meeting is your chance to hear from the Chancellor and the Vice-Chancellor, and to ask questions.

Over the coming weeks, we will begin to unveil another busy calendar of activities across University, including Kaurna Day and a special event for International Women’s Day.

2025 is the Year of the Snake, fortuitously representing wisdom, knowledge, intelligence, and creativity. These qualities, abundant at the University of Adelaide, will be vital in what promises to be a transformational year.
