Rachel A. Ankeny is Professor of History and Philosophy, and Deputy Dean Research in the Faculty of Arts, where she leads the Food Values Research Group.

Rachel is an interdisciplinary scholar, and her research related to agrifood systems utilises mixed methods to explore consumer and community attitudes and values in relation to food and agriculture in order to generate actionable results for stakeholders including regulators and policymakers as well as industry and non-governmental organisations.

Rachel's research to date has focused on ethical food categories, farm animal welfare, red meat, and genetic modification of crops and livestock, in collaboration with scholars from fields including economics, media, psychology, and social sciences, and in partnership with industry and peak organisations.

Rachel leads the Institute's Agrifood Policy Research Program.
