Preventing corruption in government: international and national perspectives

The last twelve months have witnessed a growing international momentum against corruption. This has taken place while the response to COVID has provided many opportunities for corruption. Like the pandemic, corruption is a global phenomenon.

In 2021 Dr Marie dela Rama attended the UN General Assembly Special Session on Corruption (UNGASS 2021), New York; and the 9th Conference of States Parties on the UN Convention Against Corruption (UNCAC COSP9), Sharm El-Sheikh. In this webinar she will be summarising and discussing the key issues from these multilateral events. These events also highlighted the role for civil society in anti-corruption.

While there is a global push for anti-corruption, there has been significant criticism of and pushback against anti-corruption agencies in Australia. Adam Graycar will discuss some of the Australian implications of this pushback and the anti-corruption outlook in Australia.
