Dr Georgina Drew
Dr Georgina Drew works on the intersection between water, infrastructure, development and climate change in South Asia and Australia through projects funded by the Australian Research Council (ARC), the National Science Foundation and the US Department of Education.
Her past publications take a political ecology approach to understanding water conflicts and her forthcoming works focus on the politics and policies pertaining to ‘smart’, diversified, and resilient food and water management systems.
For her current projects, Georgina leads an ARC Discovery on hydrosocial adaptations to water risk in Australian agriculture, contributes to an ARC Linkage on the social and ecological drivers of marine restoration, and is the Gender Advisor for an ACIAR project on transforming smallholder food systems in the Eastern Gangetic Plains. At the University of Adelaide, she also contributes to parallel research endeavours via the Water Research Centre, the Environment Institute, the Fay Gale Centre for Research on Gender, and the Food Values Group.
On behalf of the Food and Water Futures program, Georgina invites contributions for public policy pieces, editorials and webinar events that spark debates about the behavioural changes and system transformations that are needed to meet the coming challenges. Please contact her for more information.
