Progress your career and build specialised knowledge and skills with our Graduate Certificate in Military Law. This qualification is only open to legal officers in the Australian Defence Force (ADF). Learn to solve legal problems, conduct research and communicate military law information to ADF audiences. Take an important step in your growth as a military law professional in the Australian Defence Force. On successful completion of this graduate certificate, you can enter our Master of Laws.

What you'll learn

This program is only available to legal officers in the Australian Defence Force (ADF) and is designed to build specialised military legal knowledge and skills.  

Adelaide University’s Graduate Certificate in Military Law covers the following courses: 

  • Advanced Military Discipline Law  
  • Advanced Military Operations Law  
  • Advanced Military Administrative Law. 

Your studies will teach you to: 

  • Apply military law to solve legal problems in ADF legal officer practice. 
  • Analyse and critique military law/policy from diverse theoretical and practical perspectives. 
  • Complete research in military law, finding and resolving inconsistencies, conflicts, gaps and opportunities for improvement in law, policy and practice.  
  • Communicate military law information to relevant ADF audiences in legal and non-legal contexts, including training. 
  • Apply judgement, adaptability and responsibility as a military law professional across discipline, administrative and operational law. 
  • Understand and reflect on the qualities of a professional military lawyer. 

After completing this graduate certificate, you can move into our Master of Laws to further your legal expertise.
