Eric Rudd was appointed to the Foundation Chair of Economic and Mining Geology at the University of Adelaide in 1949, a position he held for twenty-one years. In 2002, as a memorial to Eric Rudd and in recognition of the great contribution he made to the economic geology program at The University of Adelaide, Eric’s friends and colleagues ran an appeal to raise funds to establish a scholarship in his name.
The Scholarship is to cover travel costs to enable students to spend brief periods of time at key institutions and organisation in the world which conduct research in economic geology and to visit important geological field locations.
The successful applicant will receive a lump sum payment of up to $8,000 to support their travel costs.

Eligibility
To be eligible to apply for this scholarship, you must:
- Be enrolled full-time in a Graduate Research program at the University in the area of geoscience; and
- Be studying mineral or petroleum exploration.
Selection criteria
The scholarship will be awarded via a competitive selection process managed by the Adelaide University Graduate Research School, based on academic merit, research potential, benefit of the outlined travel to the applicant’s Graduate Research program, and relevance to mineral or petroleum exploration.Important information
Upon return from travel supported by this scholarship, recipients must submit a written report outlining the perceived benefits of the scholarship to their research and thesis.How to apply
