Communicating with the University

Communicating with the University

The University will regularly communicate important information to you both in writing and by e-mail, so it is very important that you keep your contact details up-to-date. This is your responsibility; not receiving a letter or e-mail asking you to do something is no excuse for not having done it and in many cases will have far-reaching consequences for your candidature.

Written Communication

In most instances, written correspondence regarding your candidature will be sent to your nominated mailing address; if you have not specified a mailing address, correspondence will be sent to your home address. If your contact details change, you can update them by logging onto Access Adelaide at: http://www.access.adelaide.edu.au/sa/login.asp

For changes of marital status, name, or residency status, you will need to present evidence of the change to the Student Centre for the change to be processed.

International Students

Under the conditions of a student visa, international students are required to provide the University with their local contact details at enrolment and thereafter, to notify the University of changes to their address and telephone number within 7 days.

Electronic Communication

The Graduate Centre newsletter AGCNews is emailed to your campus e-mail address fortnightly. This publication contains important information about the professional development opportunities available to you, together with reminders about approaching deadlines and useful policy and procedural information.

You can expect to receive a copy of AGCNews shortly after enrolling. If you have not received a copy within three weeks of your commencement, please advise the Graduate Centre by e-mail to graduate.centre@adelaide.edu.au or by phoning 8303 5882.

It is very important to set up e-mail forward-ing if you use an e-mail address other than your campus address or if you have more than one campus address, so that you continue to receive official University e-mail. Instructions for e-mail forwarding are available from the web at: http://webmail.adelaide.edu.au/userguide/vacation_fwd.shtml#forward and students may contact the ITS help desk on 8303 3000 or helpdesk@adelaide.edu.au for assistance if required.
