Event description

Adelaide University invites you to the 2026 Democracy Innovation Festival, a two-day event bringing together researchers, policymakers, educators, students, community leaders, and engaged citizens to explore the future of democracy and democratic participation.

Delivered in partnership with democracy-focused organisations and networks, the festival will create opportunities for discussion, collaboration, and practical engagement around some of the key challenges and opportunities shaping democratic life today - including civic trust, participation, leadership, technology, education, and Indigenous sovereignty.

The program will feature keynote speakers, panel discussions, interactive workshops, citizen labs, and practical skill-building sessions designed to encourage participation, share ideas, and explore innovative approaches to democratic renewal in South Australia and beyond.

The festival is designed to be inclusive, participatory, and action-oriented, with dedicated opportunities for students, young people, researchers, educators, policymakers, and community members to connect and contribute to the conversation.

Further program details, including session locations and timings, will be released soon.
