The Council of the new Adelaide University recognises and agrees that the recently reported remuneration arrangements of the former Vice Chancellor of the University of South Australia for 2025 and 2026 do not meet community expectations. We understand the public reaction and the strong feelings about this matter within our University community.

The new Adelaide University has made a clear commitment to transparency and has previously published full details of its Vice Chancellor’s remuneration, and as its Council we attach utmost importance to continuing to act with transparency, integrity and probity in all of our business.

The remuneration arrangements of the former Vice Chancellors of the University of South Australia and the University of Adelaide were determined and overseen by the respective Councils of those institutions.

To avoid any real or perceived conflicts, the Chair of the Audit Committee will oversee any work that is needed on the part of Adelaide University in responding to the publication of details relating to the former UniSA Vice Chancellor’s remuneration.
