Front cover of Biology of Reproduction

The Centre's recent work published in Biology of Reproduction shares the front cover of a special issue with Prof Irina Larina - whose groundbreaking work sheds light on never before seen developmental processes live and in vivo.

This special issue celebrates cutting-edge research, including:

  • Volumetric OCT imaging of the entire reproductive system by Irina’s team.
  • 3D metabolic imaging of preimplantation embryo development from our team using light sheet microscopy, originally published in ACS Photonics (2023).

We have shown that our 3D metabolic imaging of both NAD(P)H and FAD, performed with light sheet microscopy, is not only incredibly precise but also safe. This innovative technology offers a new way to evaluate embryo quality—bringing us closer to reducing the time it takes for someone to take home a baby from IVF.

These breakthroughs are about more than science—they’re about redefining how we see life’s most intricate beginnings and accelerating possibilities for families everywhere.
