Dr Aaron Pereira

  • Biography/ Background

Aaron Pereira obtained his PhD in Electronic Engineering from Macquarie Univeristy in 2016, under the supervision of Prof Neil Weste. His research background is in RF Microelectronics using Gallium Nitride Technology for Aerospace Applications. He obtained his ME from University of Sydney, an MPM from University of Adelaide and a Bachelors in Microelectronic Engineering from Griffith University in 2004.

He was in the industry for many years working on advanced technologies for airborne and space based systems. Some of the projects involved MEMS pressure sensors, Electro-optic sensors for space based imagers, Satellite Laser Ranging /optical communications systems as well as composite satellite antennas.

During his PhD he worked on a DARPA program at the University of Colorado, Boulder as well at the Fraunhofer Institute for Applied Solid State Physics in Freiburg, Germany - developing space based high efficiency microelectronics. He joined the mm-wave and THz research group headed by a Prof Derek Abbott at University of Adelaide in 2016. Since 2018 he's with the sub mm-wave advanced technologies group at Jet Propulsion Laboratory, NASA/Caltech in Pasadena, CA, developing modules for spectroscopic instrumentation looking for signs of water in the Universe.
