Time is Now is a new collaborative journalism project on climate change and fire. The series included articles, myth busters and videos and has already had a fantastic reaction on Twitter and from other sectors of the media including Media Watch (last two minutes), The Drum, Mumbrella and BandT).
The project is supported by the Judith Nielson Institute for Journalism and Ideas. Scientists and journalists have worked effectively together on a very important issue. With millions of free readers each month, the likely impact is set to be huge.
The range of experts in the series to date included:
- Professor Emeritus Gerard Fitzgerald from the School of Public Health and Social Work at the Queensland University of Technology
- Dr Sophie Lewis, a senior lecturer in science at University of NSW, Canberra
- Dr Sarah Perkins-Kirkpatrick, senior lecturer and ARC Future Fellow at the Climate Change Research Centre at University of NSW Sydney
- Professor Dale Dominey-Howes, a professor of science at the University of Sydney
- Associate Professor David Suggett is a coral reef expert at the University of Technology in Sydney
- Professor Robert Hill, director of the Environment Institute at the University of Adelaide
- Professor Corey Bradshaw, global ecologist at Flinders University
- Professor Elizabeth Mossop, landscape architect at UTS
- Dr Sophie Webber, human geographer at UTS
- Dr Peter Ralph, Professor of Marine Biology at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS)
