Reading Feminism: May Book Club Meeting
Join us on for our May book club meeting. May's book is Women, Race & Class by Angela Y. Davis. In this work, a classic of feminist, Marxist, Black and anti-racist theory and theorising, Davis writes a history of women, race, and class in the United States. The book is a crucial example of a work that enacts what we today might call intersectional analysis to interrogate existing worlds in order produce radical new feminist / anti-racist / Marxist visions and futures. Special Fay Gale Seminar: Courage to Change by Professor Alison Phipps
The Courage to Change: Ending Gender Inequality and Sexual Harassment in Australian universities. The Fay Gale Centre is excited to be hosting a special seminar by Professor Alison Phipps (The University of Sussex, UK). At this Fay Gale seminar, Professor Phipps will address the policies and practices that can enable and support structural and cultural change around issues such as gender inequity, bullying, sexual harassment and violence. This event will generate collective understanding of how change at universities can occur, providing practical steps to create a workplace in which gender equity, diversity and care can flourish. 2020s Vision - Economic Future of Women in Australia
Fay Gale member A/Prof Duygu Yengin (Director of Gender Equality, Diversity and Inclusion, School of Economics, UoA) is part of an upcoming panel presentation presentation on the economic future of women in Australia. Presented by The Bob Hawke Prime Ministerial Centre and BPW Adelaide, the panel asks these question: What are the most important issues facing women today, how are we addressing those issues and what more can be done to improve women’s economic security? SA Women's & Gender Studies Annual Public Lecture 2021
