Opening of the Centre of Light for Life at The University of Adelaide
The Centre of Light for Life opened its doors on the 21st of February, marking the beginning of a new era of advanced research and innovation. Under the leadership of ARC Laureate Fellow Prof. Kishan Dholakia, the Centre aims to pioneer cutting-edge optical imaging and sensing techniques within its dedicated laboratories located in the Engineering, Math, and Sciences building on the North Terrace Campus.
The inauguration marked a noteworthy milestone in the Centre's mission. Dedicated to transdisciplinary research, the Centre of Light for Life implements innovative imaging modalities to enhance visualisation and understanding in the fields of environment, biology, and health. The newly established laboratories are equipped with specialised imaging systems, including optical laboratories, a wet laboratory, and incubators, facilitating research projects spanning biology and physics.
With a vision to lead in the development of novel optical imaging for biological materials, the Centre of Light for Life aspires to drive multidisciplinary research with practical applications. As it asserts its presence within the academic landscape, the Centre is poised to illuminate new pathways in optical imaging, contributing to transformative advancements in science and technology.
