Ingenuity 2023

IPAS was delighted to be invited to take part in the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology Ingenuity 2023 Event on November 1st.

Many thanks to the 5 teams; Whiskey Sensing, Advanced Manufacturing, Novel Fluorescence, ATTA and Laser Radio who took time out of their busy schedules to provide interesting and interactive displays for nearly 3,600 attendees of all ages.

Hybrid Imaging Catheter Wins Best New Invention

The University of Adelaide was awarded Best New Invention by Knowledge Commercialisation Australasia (KCA) during the 2023 KCA Australasian Research Commercialisation Awards for work commercialising a Hybrid Imaging Catheter developed by Dr Jiawen Li.

Australian Economic Accelerator Seed Grant

IPAS member, Danielle Questiaux has been awarded a $196,248 Australian Economic Seed Tranche Two Grant for her resources project "Rapid development of new medical treatment compounds from radioactive mine waste". Danielle and her team will be working with industry partner Reforme Group.

Advancing Asbestos Detection: Flawless Photonics and Prof Nigel Spooner Secure BRII Grant

The Regulatory Technology round of the Business Research and Innovation Initiative (BRII) is providing a $5 million grant to help develop new digital technologies in a bid to solve challenges faced by Australian businesses.  In conjunction with the University of Adelaide’s Prescott Environmental Luminescence Laboratory (PELL), Flawless Photonics Pty Ltd (Flawless) has been awarded $999,690 to further develop the project ‘Hand Portable, Non-contact, Real-time Fluorescence-based Asbestos Sensor’ asbestos testing technology

Global recognition for biomedical innovator

Dr Jiawen Li, a biomedical engineer from the University of Adelaide, has been named in the 2023 global list of Innovators Under 35  by the MIT Technology Review for her work in biomedical engineering. Dr Li is the only recipient of this prestigious global recognition from Australia.
