Welcome to the Library! We support the Adelaide University community through access to collections, spaces, support, and services that enable learning, teaching, and research.

Whether you’re new to the university or continuing on from one of our foundational institutions, the Library offers a range of services to help you succeed. Our libraries are located across all campuses, with flexible opening hours and a mix of study and collaboration areas. Many spaces are bookable, including study rooms and computer workstations, alongside solo study booths, quiet zones, and group study zones. One of our most well‑known spaces is the Reading Room on Level 2 of the Barr Smith Library, valued for its heritage setting and focused study environment.

To help you find and use information, our how do I guides provide practical, self‑guided support on topics such as searching for information, referencing, using databases, and subject‑specific resources.

If you have any questions about using the Library, including how to search for information or borrow items, contact our helpful Ask Library staff

Applications are now open for the Hugh Martin Weir Prize. Launching for the first time at the newly formed Adelaide University, the Prize awards $2000 to researchers focused on any aspect of Australia's involvement in war, or the treatment of prisoners of war in any conflict, including the effects on those involved, their families, and their communities.

This prize was created to honour Lieutenant Hugh Martin Weir (1915–2004), a prisoner of war of the Japanese in Java from 1942 to 1945, and his fellow POWs.

For further information, or if you would like to apply, please visit the prizes and fellowships webpage.

Applications close 31 July 2026.
