Honorary Doctorates nomination form

Nominations made in this round will be considered for conferral at graduation ceremonies in early 2027.

You can submit nominations in one of two categories:

  1. Doctor of the University (honoris causa)
    Awarded in recognition of exceptionally distinguished service to the University and/or its founding institutions and/or to society more broadly. This is a general, high-prestige award that is not discipline-specific and recognises individuals whose contribution is of outstanding significance at institutional, national or international level.
  2. Honorary Doctorates by Discipline (honoris causa)
    Awarded in recognition of exceptional eminence in a specific field of learning. These awards recognise distinguished achievement, leadership or contribution within a particular discipline, typically at national or international level. By way of example, these may be conferred in fields including (but not limited to) Architecture, Economics, Education, Engineering, Law, Letters (Humanities), Music, Science, Veterinary Science or other disciplines.

How to nominate

Nominations received by 9 September 2026 will be considered for the January/February 2027 graduation ceremonies. Nominations received after this date will be considered for later graduation ceremonies.

Include (can be dot points):

  • Key achievements and distinction
  • Major contributions (discipline, society, University if relevant)
  • Impact and significance
  • Recognition or honours
  • Alignment with University values

Outline their relationship with the University and/or opportunities for future engagement (or write N/A)

Please upload the following:

  • Statement of support (1 page max) or an email endorsing the nomination from a member of either:
    • College PVC or Board
    • Academic Board
    • SDHA Advisory Group
  • Curriculum Vitae (4 page max)
  • Publications/achievements
  • Evidence of impact (awards, media, citations)
