Adelaide University accepts financial guarantees from approved sponsors to support international student applications, provided the guarantee clearly outlines the scope and conditions of the sponsorship.

Please ensure that the financial guarantee given to students for their application specifies which expenses are covered and includes:

  • A contact to liaise between the sponsor organisation, student and our dedicated sponsor relations team;
  • Student name and date of birth;
  • Sponsor name, address and contact details on official letterhead;
  • Name of the program and the University covered by the sponsorship;
  • Duration of the sponsorship; and,
  • Inclusions such as tuition fees, English language studies, pathway studies, OSHC, textbooks, and printing.

The Australian Government requires all international students to purchase approved Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) for the duration of their studies in Australia. This must be paid before the students’ Confirmation of Enrolment (CoE) can be issued.

Once your sponsor account has been established with the University, invoices are sent for each Study Period after each Census date and with a due date of 30 days.

Sponsors may request that the invoice be sent directly to their students if required, but this will result in a 10 day invoice due date instead.

If payment is not received in full by the due date, the student will be placed in Bad Financial Standing (BFS) with the University. The consequences of BFS may include, but are not limited to, restriction on enrolment, graduation, and access to results or issuance of an academic transcript.

If a student does not complete their program within the duration of the financial guarantee, Adelaide University will seek sponsor approval for an extension to the financial guarantee. If approval is not given, any future fees will be invoiced directly to the student.

Should you wish to cancel or make any changes to your sponsor account, please notify the International Development team.

For more information on student fees please see the Adelaide University Fees and Loans Policy.

Adelaide University monitors the academic performance of all international students to ensure that appropriate support is available, including for students identified as being at risk, and that sponsors are appropriately informed.

To comply with South Australian privacy legislation and the University’s Privacy Policy, the University must obtain written consent from students before releasing personal information, including academic progress, to sponsors. This written consent is collected at the time students accept their Offer of Admission. Sponsors may request information regarding a student’s progress by contacting the University’s dedicated international sponsored student support staff.

The Adelaide University Academic Calendar is structured around two main semesters, Semester 1 and Semester 2. Some programs may have alternative study periods, such as intensive summer and winter sessions.

The International Development team will confirm sponsors’ reporting requirements regarding student enrolment and academic progress. Where a sponsor indicates that reports are required, the University will provide enrolment and/or academic progress reports twice a year via email, as follows:

  • Enrolment Reporting: Provided after Census Date for Semester 1 or Semester 2 (typically in April and September) for coursework students, sent from the International Student Support team.
  • Academic Progress Reporting: Provided after Primary Grade Release Date for Semester 1 and Semester 2 (typically in July and December) for coursework students, sent from the International Development team.
