Study tour: New Zealand Honours Earth Sciences

The New Zealand study tour serves as a capstone for Earth Science students, directly tackling the geological complexities of active plate margins to understand the processes that make and deform the continental crust. Run as an active module within the BSc (Hons) Geology, Environmental Geoscience, and Geophysics degrees, the tour engages students to build strong geology knowledge and field skills. Students learn about high-grade metamorphism, structural geology, and igneous petrology to study crustal processes. The program also covers volcanology, sedimentary geology, and mineral systems, alongside geomorphology, palaeontology, and glacial processes to understand surface evolution.

New Colombo Plan scholars

Three Adelaide University students received a prestigious New Colombo Plan scholarship to study at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji in 2026. This federal government initiative supports high-achieving Australian undergraduate students to undertake long-term study, language training, internships, and mentorships in the Indo-Pacific region with the aim of lifting regional knowledge, deepening international connections, and gaining valuable global perspectives and networks. To maximise their immersive experience in Fiji, scholars have the opportunity to engage deeply with the local community, establish institutional linkages, and contribute to Australia's strategic standing in the Pacific.
