About me

I am a Lecturer in Mathematics and Science Education at Adelaide University, where I teach across undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education programs. Before joining the university, I worked as a secondary science and physics teacher and held leadership roles in STEM education and science communication.

My teaching focuses on preparing future teachers to create engaging, inclusive, and evidence-informed mathematics and science learning environments. I am particularly interested in curriculum design, authentic assessment, digital technologies, and supporting pre-service teachers to connect educational theory with classroom practice.

Alongside my teaching, I am undertaking a Doctor of Education exploring how digital technologies are represented within mathematics and science education and how education systems support teachers to integrate these technologies into their practice. My research interests include curriculum studies, teacher education, STEM education, digital technology integration, and professional learning.

Lecturer in Mathematics and Science Education
University of South Australia / Adelaide University (2022–present)

Education Manager
Royal Institution of Australia (2019–2022)

Secondary Science and Senior Physics Teacher
Scotland and South Australia (2011–2018)

Throughout my career, I have worked across secondary education, STEM outreach, science communication, and higher education. These experiences have shaped my commitment to supporting future teachers and promoting high-quality mathematics and science education.

My teaching is informed by my experience as a secondary science and senior physics teacher and my ongoing research in mathematics and science education. I teach across undergraduate and postgraduate Initial Teacher Education programs, with a particular focus on science curriculum, mathematics and science pedagogy, authentic assessment and professional practice.

I strive to create learning environments that are engaging, supportive and closely connected to the realities of classroom teaching. My courses emphasise evidence-informed practice, curriculum design, the effective use of digital technologies and the development of professional knowledge and confidence. I enjoy working with pre-service teachers as they develop their identities as educators and prepare for careers in schools.
