About me

I was born and raised in Tokyo and completed my undergraduate degree there. Then, I went to Canada and USA to complete my advanced degrees.

My first academic appointment was with the University of New England, Armidale NSW. Subsequently, I took up professorship at Kyoto University, Japan, before returning back to Australia to work for the University of South Australia. Currently, I am a professor of comparative studies of education at School of Education, Adelaide University.
