Profile of Prof Rai Kookana

About me

Dr. Rai Kookana has over 40 years of research experience in Environmental Chemistry, with a focus on minimising the adverse impacts of organic contaminants on the environment. His work has significantly advanced understanding of the fate and behaviour of pesticides, endocrine-disrupting chemicals, pharmaceuticals and personal care products, and more recently, per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), with the aim of reducing risks to human and ecosystem health. Dr. Kookana has authored more than 300 research publications, which have collectively received nearly 30,000 citations.
