About me

Dr Rebekah Clarkson is a Senior Learning Adviser in Student Academic Learning Support (SALS).  The SALS team provide academic learning support for Adelaide University students across disciplines through academic skills workshops, in-course workshops, online resources, individual appointments, and student peer support training. 

Rebekah has a BA in Aboriginal Studies (University of South Australia) which led to her early career in policy and government administration, including the Royal Commission into Aboriginal Deaths in Custody and the Aboriginal Reconciliation Council. She has an MA and PhD in Creative Writing from the University of Adelaide, where she previously worked as Coordinator of Writing Support programs. 

As an academic, Rebekah has designed and delivered English and Creative writing courses in Universities in Australia and the U.S and continues to deliver guest lectures both nationally and internationally, most recently at Cambridge University. She is an award-winning writer, experienced public speaker, workshop facilitator and mentor.

Rebekah is skilled in contextualising and demystifying tertiary education and in supporting learners from diverse cognitive, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds to develop their own voice. She is committed to co‑designing learning strategies with students, using creative pedagogical approaches that cultivate curiosity, confidence, and authentic engagement.
