Centre for Advanced Defence Research in High-Frequency Technologies

About the Centre

The Centre for Advanced Defence Research in High-Frequency Technologies (CADR-HFT) was founded in October 2023 at the former University of Adelaide through the Joint Open Innovation Network (JOIN), with support from the Australian Department of Defence and BAE Systems Australia.

High-Frequency Technologies (HFT) encompass the science and engineering of systems operating across the radio frequency, microwave, millimetre wave and related electromagnetic spectrum domains. These technologies are critical to modern defence capability, supporting applications such as sensing, communications, electronic warfare, surveillance, radar and next-generation autonomous systems.

The Centre brings together defence, industry and academia to advance Australia's sovereign capability in high-frequency technologies. Through collaborative research, workforce development and industry engagement, CADR-HFT seeks to address defence challenges, foster innovation and strengthen Australia's national security and technological competitiveness.
