Help us understand how ageing affects your heart and blood vessels
About the study
This study is looking at how the lining of blood vessels and platelets change as we age, and how this affects heart health. We are looking for adults of all ages with no past history of heart disease or stroke to take part.
Taking part involves one visit to the Basil Hetzel Institute, The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, where we will take a few blood samples and ask you to fill a short health questionnaire. This will take approximately 20-30 minutes.
This research will help us find better ways to keep hearts healthy as people age.
Eligibility requirements
To be eligible for this study, you should:
- Be aged 18–85 years
- Be in generally good health
- Not have had a recent hospital stay or illness in the last 2 months
- Not have a history of heart disease, stroke, or blood vessel disease
- Not have severe kidney problems
- Not be pregnant or breastfeeding
- Not currently be enrolled in another clinical trial
- Not be taking certain blood-thinning medication (e.g., clopidogrel).

Start of recruitment: May 2026
End of recruitment: December 2028
