Modelling Human Joints

Modelling hip and knee joints from MRI scans

About the study

The size, shape, and composition of your hip and knee joints is a product of genetic and environmental factors that are unique to you.

The aim of this study is to make a statistical model that accounts for the variation of unique joints that occurs within the Australian population. Using this model, we hope to better understand how an individual’s joints may respond to changes in environment or activity. In the future we hope that our model may help guide individualised rehabilitation or training programs for future people.

To make our model, we need data. This is why we are recruiting people to attend a 1 hr appointment at Jones Radiology, SAHMRI, involving a 45-minute MRI scan. The scans in our MRI sequence will tell us the shape of your hip joints, while also giving us an idea about the composition of the cartilage between the bones of your joints.

To Participate
