W​​hen ShIft woRk meets mENopause (SIREN)

About the study

​This study aims to explore how shift work and menopause interact to influence sleep health, menopause symptoms and how well people can work so that effective strategies can be developed to help women improve sleep and wellbeing and guide workplace policy and practice.

​Complete an online survey (approx. 30 minutes) that explores menopause symptoms, work schedule, sleep, fatigue and mental and physical health. 

​Shift working participants can also opt in to be selected to participate in two online focus groups (2 x 60 minute sessions) exploring coping strategies, the support and resources participants have accessed, impact of menopause symptoms on their work.

Eligibility requirements

  • ​Female (born with ovaries)
  • ​25-65 years of age
  • ​Located in and working in Australia
  • ​Currently employed in either a shift working capacity, any industry or daytime hours (9am-5pm) ​

Recruitment timeline

Start of recruitment: March 2026
​End of recruitment: June 2026​

Benefits

​​Participants who complete the online survey can opt in to receive one of five $100 gift vouchers.

Shift working participants can opt in to be selected to participate in two focus groups. Upon completion of both focus groups, participants will receive two x $100 gift vouchers​.
