Wine tasting research study

​​Exploring consumer perceptions and preferences for wines with varying alcohol levels​

About the study

​​Researchers from Adelaide University's School of Marketing and School of Agriculture, Food and Wine are seeking participants for a wine tasting study exploring consumer responses to wines with varying alcohol levels.

​The findings will help researchers better understand consumer preferences and support the development of wines that align with evolving tastes, lifestyles, and expectations.

​Participants will attend a single 45-60 minute tasting session at Waite Campus, sample five wines, complete a short questionnaire, and receive a $20 gift voucher as thanks for their time and contribution to the research.​​

Eligibility requirements

​​You may be eligible if you:

  • ​Are aged 18 years or over
  • ​Live in Australia
  • ​Are proficient in English
  • ​Purchase and consume white and/or red wine
  • ​Are not pregnant
  • ​Have no known food allergies or intolerances.​

​White wine tastings

  • ​1, 2, 3, 8, 9 and 10 September 2026

​Red wine tastings

  • ​6, 7, 8, 13, 14 and 15 October 2026

​Available session times:

  • ​10:00 am
  • ​12:00 pm
  • ​2:00 pm
  • ​4:00 pm
  • ​6:00 pm

​Participants are invited to attend one session only. ​

​​The knowledge gained from this project may help the wine industry develop lower-alcohol wines that meet consumer needs and preferences. This work contributes to a larger effort to shape the future of wine in a way that balances enjoyment, wellbeing, and informed choice.
