ARC LIEF scheme

Professor Gavin RowellProfessor Paul Jackson, Professor Nigel Spooner (School of Physics, Chemistry and Earth Sciences), Dr Andreas Boes (School of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and IPAS), and Professor Andre Luiten (IPAS) are the University's five successful recipients of the ARC LIEF scheme and have been awarded over $5 million of funding. Amber Brock-Fabel, University of Adelaide’s Bachelor of Arts (Advanced) student majoring in Psychology and Criminology, has been awarded 2025 Young Australian of the Year for South Australia. Read more.

CSL Centenary Fellowship

CSL Centenary Fellowship

Dr Qi Zhang (SAiGENCI), who leads the Epigenetics and Gene Regulation Laboratory, has been awarded a CSL Centenary Fellowship, worth $1.25 million across five years. Dr Zhang, who is a European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) Australia fellow, investigates the epigenetic processes that turn genes on and turn off to influence the development of individual cells, which may have positive or negative consequences. Associate Professor Shoko Yoneyama (School of Social Sciences) has received an award from the Japanese Foreign Minister for her contribution to promoting Japanese culture and language education in Australia. Read more.

Russell Cole Memorial ANZCA Research Award

Professor Andrew Somogyi, Dr Daniel Barratt, and Dr Sanam Mustafa (School of Biomedicine) were awarded the Russell Cole Memorial ANZCA Research Award for their project Optimising oxycodone pain management in cancer patients through metabolic, proteomic, genetic and immune biomarkers.

2024 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence

2024 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence

Professor Jozef Gécz, Head of Neurogenetics at the University, has received the 2024 Ramaciotti Medal for Excellence. The medal, awarded by the Clive & Vera Ramaciotti Foundations, is presented to individuals who have made an outstanding discovery in clinical or experimental biomedical research which has had an important impact on biomedical science, clinical science, or the way in which healthcare is delivered.
