Student Assist

Student Assist is your one-stop-shop for a wide range of student services and support. Whether you have questions about study, wellbeing, or life at university, the team is here to help you right from your first day, through to graduation.

With staff available across all campuses, Student Assist makes it easy to get the guidance and support you need. They can also help you book appointments with specialists in:

Other services

Advocates are trained to provide expert advice and advocacy for students across a wide range of issues. They specialise in helping students understand and exercise their rights, particularly when it comes to academic and educational complaints.

Some of the areas they can assist with include:

  • Requests for remarking or resubmitting assignments
  • Appeals against allegations of academic misconduct
  • Advice on University policies
  • Appeals against intention to preclude
  • Appeals related to examination misconduct
  • Concerns or issues with lecturers
  • HDR Candidature support (progress reviews and milestones / supervision matters)
  • Variations to Assessment (e.g. replacement exams / alternative assessments
  • Amendment to Enrolment & Fees (retrospective withdrawal, fee refunds and remissions)
  • Referrals to other support services both within and outside the university.

Adelaide University offers a range of services to help to support students with a disability or ongoing health condition on your ability to study or work. Support is provided confidentially and tailored to your individual needs through the Access and Inclusion service.

Depending on your circumstances, support may include:

  • Sign language interpreting
  • Alternative format print materials
  • Loan equipment
  • Other specialised services
  • Identify reasonable adjustments
  • Provide advice on negotiating and communicating reasonable adjustments to academic staff
  • Alternative Exam Arrangements (AEA)

Wirringka Student Services provides a welcoming, culturally safe, and supportive environment for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students at Adelaide University. Whether you're studying on campus or externally, staff are available to support you across all Adelaide University locations, including regional campuses.

You can connect with an Aboriginal Student Engagement Officer directly for personalised assistance. Support is available in person, or via phone, email, and Skype for external students. For help making contact or booking an appointment, reach out to Student Assist.

The Student Academic Learning Support team is here to help you succeed in your studies and assessments. They offer a wide range of online resources, workshops, and personalised learning support to build your skills and confidence throughout your Adelaide University journey.

If the online resources haven’t fully answered your questions, you can speak directly with a Learning Adviser. Drop-ins are available on every campus for quick, personalised advice, or you can make an appointment for more in-depth support.

Student Advisers are here to help you get the most out of your experience at Adelaide University. If you'd like to speak with someone who understands the unique challenges faced by international students, contact the Student Assist team.

The Student Ombud provides free, independent and confidential advice to make sure you're treated fairly after making a complaint or appeal.

The Ombud isn't on your side or the university's. They can:

  • Investigate whether the university followed its processes correctly.
  • Ask for a reconsideration if something was missed.
  • Point you to external appeal options if you're still not satisfied.

The Ombud is usually the last port of call once you've exhausted the university's formal complaint process. But you can seek advice at any stage.

Here’s how they can assist:

  • Advocacy – Help navigating systems like Centrelink and accessing emergency aid
  • Workshops – Learn tools and tips to strengthen your financial literacy
  • Food assistance – Access free or affordable essentials through the AUSA Pantry
